Curling Head Ice Technician – Capital Winter Club Ltd.
Come join the Capital Winter Club Ltd, (CWC) located at 232 Rookwood Avenue in Fredericton, New Brunswick. We are seeking a Head Ice Technician for the 2026-2027 curling season. This is a full-time, seasonal role from September to April. Hours will include some evenings, weekends, and holidays as required for events. The CWC operates a five-sheet curling facility and hosts multiple weekly leagues, club focussed bonspiels, provincial bonspiels, youth and little rock programs, rentals, and community events throughout the season. ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Manager, the Head Ice Technician takes the lead in ensuring a high-quality ice surface throughout the season. The Head Ice Technician will work closely with volunteers for the installation of ice, floods throughout the season, and day-to-day ice maintenance. Key responsibilities of the Head Ice Technician will include the following:

Developing an annual budget for the work in the ice shed and to the ice plant, including repairs to existing equipment and identification of required new equipment.

Participating on the Ice Committee in the execution of its duties.
•
Training volunteers for the work in the ice shed and ice maintenance.
•
Working with the Manager to maintain the schedule of activities in the ice shed throughout the season and identifying resources needed for those activities in the ice shed.
•
Coordinating the start-up and shut down of the refrigeration system.
•
Maintaining curling stones as required i.e., cleaning, tightening handles, and blueprinting.
•
Maintaining daily ice maintenance, either personally or through the work of volunteers.
QUALIFICATIONS
•
Completion of Curling Canada “Head Ice Technician” certification, or equivalent experience and a commitment to obtaining the “Head Ice Technician” certification.
•
Minimum of two seasons of experience in curling ice installation and maintenance, or a combination of applicable training and experience.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
•
Good interpersonal skills in dealing with volunteers, members, guests, and the public.
•
Good customer service and communication skills.
•
Good problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
•
The ability to work with minimal supervision.
•
Good budget development and management skills for the budget for the Ice Shed.
•
Attendance at monthly Ice Committee meetings is required.
SALARY RANGE
•
The salary range for this position is $45,000 – $55,000 CAD per curling season.
•
The successful candidate’s salary will be determined based on their certifications, experience and qualifications.
