Curl Moncton, a five-sheet curling centre in Moncton, New Brunswick, is now accepting applications for the position of Head Ice Technician for the 2026-2027 curling season.

Curl Moncton is an active and growing curling community. Our season runs from late September to early April with 10+ weekly leagues, an active junior program, numerous clinics and rentals, and several bonspiels, including provincial and national competitions.

Our facility features a four-tank jet ice system for water purification as well as a computer controlled ice plant with multiple compressors that allows for easy monitoring of brine, concrete, and ice temperatures.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining high-quality ice conditions and curling operations throughout the season. You will train and lead a team of volunteer assistants and keep our facility running smoothly. You will be one of the main representatives of the club and be responsible for maintaining positive relationships with members, volunteers, staff, guests, and the Board of Directors.

Key Responsibilities:

– Oversee annual ice installation and removal. Coordinate ice plant start-up and shutdown with our refrigeration contractor.
– Perform daily ice maintenance. Ensuring a high-quality playing surface for leagues, rentals, bonspiels, and other events.
– Train, supervise, and coordinate volunteers to assist with ice maintenance and other tasks in the ice shed.
– Ensure the ice shed is maintained, cleaned, and well presented.
– Work in collaboration with the general manager to maintain an accurate schedule of activities throughout the year and ensure ice maintenance is scheduled accordingly.

Qualifications:

– Completion of Curling Canada “Head Ice Technician” certification, or equivalent experience and a commitment to obtaining the “Head Ice Technician” certification.
– Minimum of two seasons of experience in curling ice installation and maintenance, or a combination of applicable training and experience.

Skills & Competencies:

– Exceptional interpersonal skills in dealing with other staff, volunteers, members, guests, and the public.
– Excellent customer service and communication skills.
– Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
– Able to work with minimal supervision.

About this Position:

– This is a full-time, seasonal role from August to April.
– Job hours will include some evenings, weekends, and holiday hours as required for events. Attendance at monthly board meetings is also required.

– The salary range for this position is $45,000 – $55,000. The successful candidate’s salary will be determined based on their experience and qualifications.
